Van Halen Tickets Go On Sale for Vegas Shows
September 28, 2007
VAN HALEN
MGM GRAND GARDEN ARENA
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 28 AND SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30
Tickets On Sale Saturday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m.
LAS VEGAS – Rock legends Van Halen will embark on a concert tour throughout the United States and Canada, with its original lead singer David Lee Roth, for the first time in more than 22 years. The tour will stop at the MGM Grand Garden Arena for two nights, Friday, Dec. 28 and Sunday, Dec. 30. Both shows are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. with special guest Ky-mani Marley.
Tickets priced at $175, $125 and $65, not including applicable service charges and taxes, go on sale Saturday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. and will be sold at the MGM Grand Garden Arena box office and at all Las Vegas Ticketmaster locations (select Smith's Food and Drug Centers, Macy's West at the Fashion Show Mall and Ritmo Latino). Ticket sales are limited to eight (8) per person for each show. To charge by phone with a major credit card, call the MGM Grand box office at
(702) 891-7777 or Ticketmaster at (800) 929-1111. Tickets also are available for purchase at www.mgmgrand.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
Wristband distribution will begin Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. A random number will be drawn and a lineup will be in sequential order beginning with the random number selected. Wristband distribution requires a form of personal identification and does not guarantee that a ticket can be purchased.
Considered by fans as one of the most highly anticipated tours in rock 'n' roll history, Roth, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen will perform with Eddie's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, who joins the lineup as the band's bass player. Van Halen and Roth have not performed or recorded together since 1984's classic multi-platinum album, 1984, and subsequent tour, making this tour truly a historic event.
Van Halen remains one of the most important and influential bands of all time. Formed in Los Angeles in 1974, the band quickly won a loyal hometown fan base with their electrifying live shows. From the moment they released their self-titled 1978 debut album, Van Halen shook the foundations of rock, thanks largely to Roth's peerless showmanship, Eddie Van Halen's revolutionary guitar virtuosity and their songwriting abilities; this changed rock music forever.
The band's record of achievement is hard to top. Their two albums, Van Halen and 1984, were certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America. Van Halen joins an elite short list of two-time Diamond Award honorees in the history of the music industry. The Diamond Award is presented to an artist for album sales of 10 million or more units. They also are in the Guinness Book of World Records for having more No. 1 hits on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart than any other band in history. Inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in March of this year, Van Halen has produced a treasured body of work that fans will admire for decades to come.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena is home to concerts, championship boxing and premier sporting and special events. The Arena offers comfortable seating for as many as 16,800 with excellent sightlines and state-of-the-art acoustics, lighting and sound. Prominent events to date have included world championship fights between Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson as well as Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather and George Foreman vs. Michael Moorer; and concerts by The Rolling Stones, Madonna, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Bette Midler, Gloria Estefan, Janet Jackson, Phil Collins, Billy Joel, Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, Sting, Jimmy Buffett and the Barbra Streisand Millennium Concert. The MGM Grand Garden Arena is also home to the annual FOX Billboard Music Awards, the annual Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children Benefit and the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMA).

"A Tribute to the Great White Way" will be held at the Onyx Theatre on Friday, August 24 at 8:00 p.m. and will mark the first in a series of annual concerts to help fund the valuable resources and services offered by The Center.
A veteran of stage himself, John will be joining a list of local talent to include Vita Corimbi and Skye Dee Miles from "Menopause the Musical", Larry Atello from "Tony and Tina's Wedding", Sheila Wright (Las Vegas' premiere karaoke host), Miss Kitty and Miss Frankie, The Sin City Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and Ruda Lenska.

"I've been so fortunate to be a part of such an amazing, community-wide giving spirit in the five years since Las Vegas has been my home," said John Eisele. "It's truly an honor to continue that tradition with this benefit concert for The Center."
Conceived, produced and hosted by John, "A Tribute to the Great White Way" will donate all proceeds to the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada. The Center is a non-profit organization that provides a safe and healthy environment for the local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community, and provides important resources and services such as meetings, outings, referrals, programs, Hepatitis A & B immunizations and HIV prevention, testing and counseling.
In an effort to bring even more support to this worthy cause, John approached juhl's development company, CityMark Development, for which he manages sales operations, to extend their support to the evening. As such, on the evening of the event, John will proudly present a multi-thousand dollar platinum donation to The Center Board of Directors.

"I urge the Las Vegas community to support this event and treat themselves to a memorable evening of music and fun," said John. "It's going to be a very memorable night."
Fremont Street Experience Introduces Real Action Stunt Performances
Spectacular New Acts Bring Thrills to Downtown's Exciting Street Scene
LAS VEGAS – August 2, 2007 – Visitors to Las Vegas' famous Fremont Street Experience are getting even more free entertainment options with the addition of the Real Action Stunt Stage. Located at the 1st Street intersection near the Golden Nugget and Binion's, the stage features live action performances nightly to include the Russian Bar, cube balancing and a flying silk act. Each act is unique, awe-inspiring and designed to evoke a sense of complete amazement from the audience.
The Russian Bar is a gymnastic act that combines the elements of balance, aerial and acrobatic techniques. A thin, flexible bar, suspended between the shoulders of two sturdy holders, is used to propel a flyer high into the air. Executing a series of flips, twists and somersaults, the flyer then lands in perfect balance-back on the bar.
Cube balancing consists of an artist working with an enormous metal cube to create completely enthralling visuals. Spinning and propelling the cube around the head, body and the palm of the hand, the artist's dizzying dexterity is not to be believed as the cube itself catches the light and transforms into a shimmering whirlwind of rainbow colors.
A flying silk act is the perfect addition to any entertainment extravaganza-but none so more than at the Fremont Street Experience, where the aerialist is actually suspended from the 90-foot Viva Vision canopy. Soaring in graceful circles, high above the heads of the crowd, the aerialist and the silk blend together in a series of beautiful twists and turns.
"We want to give our visitors an experience that's on par with what they expect of Las Vegas," said Lisa Robinson, director of marketing for Fremont Street Experience. "A night out in Vegas should be dazzling, exciting and one-of-a-kind-and the Real Action Stunt Stage definitely plays a big part in that."
Real Action Stunt Performances go on nightly at 8:15 pm and 10:15 pm. Riders of the Thunderdome perform Thursday through Saturday at 9:15 pm and 11:15 pm. Live bands perform from the 3rd Street stage seven nights a week, times vary. Nightly shows on the Viva Vision screen appear at 8:30 pm, 9 pm, 10 pm, 11 pm, and 12 am from August 1-18. Beginning August 19, the first show of the evening will be at 8 pm. All shows and performances at the Fremont Street Experience are free and open to the public.
Ample parking is available at the Fremont Street Experience parking garage located on the corner of Carson and 4th Streets or at any of the legendary casinos that line historic Fremont Street. Visit www.vegasexperience.com or call 702-678-5600 for more information.

Think You Might Be Addicted to Email? You're Not Alone
83% of Email Users Checking on Vacation; Many Plan Getaways Around Access
DULLES, Va., July 26, 2007 - If you're sleeping with a portable device next to your pillow so you will not miss an email during the night, you are not alone. According to AOL's third annual "Email Addiction" survey, more Americans than ever before are using portable devices to keep tabs on their email throughout the day and night, and from virtually anywhere – bed, cars, bathrooms and even church.
"Email is becoming more and more accessible, and people continue to take advantage of that," said Regina Lewis, AOL Online Consumer Advisor. "As the survey data shows, portable devices – like email itself – are becoming more prevalent and easier to use. Because you can access email services like AOL from virtually anywhere and on almost any wireless device, it is easier to stay connected to work, home, family and friends through email -- and instant messaging as well -- than any other form of communication."
AOL, in partnership with Opinion Research Corporation, conducted online surveys with 4,025 respondents 13 and older in 20 cities around the country to measure email usage. It showed that email use on portable devices has nearly doubled since 2004, and as a result, people are checking email around the clock. According to the survey, the average email user checks mail about five times a day, and 59% of those with portable devices are using them to check email every time a new message arrives. Forty-three percent of email users with portable devices say they keep the device nearby when they are sleeping to listen for incoming mail.
With or without portable devices, 15% of Americans describe themselves as "addicted to email," and many are even planning their vacations with email access in mind. About four in ten email users say it is "very" or "somewhat" important to them to think about email accessibility when they are planning a vacation, and eighty-three percent of email users admit to checking their mail once a day while actually on vacation.
Other significant findings include:
**Washington, DC is the most "email addicted" city in the country. Eighty-two percent of Washingtonians have multiple email accounts – the highest percentage of any city in the survey. Rounding out the top 10 cities addicted to email are: 2.) Atlanta; 3.) New York; 4.) San Francisco; 5.) Houston; 6.) Los Angeles; 7.) Seattle; 8.) Orlando; 9.) Denver; and 10.) Miami.
**Americans are emailing anywhere and everywhere. Fifty-nine percent of people emailing from portable devices are checking email in bed while in their pajamas; 53% in the bathroom; 37% are checking email while they drive; and 12% admit to checking email in church.
**Women (16%) are more likely to describe themselves as addicted to email than men (13%), and are actually spending 15 minutes more per day on email than men.
**Forty-three percent of email users check their email first thing in the morning, and 40% have checked their email in the middle of the night. Twenty-six percent admit to checking email on a laptop in bed while in their pajamas.
**Sixty percent of people who email admit to checking their personal email at work an average of three times a day. While only 15% of those who do so have been "busted" by their bosses, 28% say they feel guilty about it.
Dealing with Email Addiction:
According to Lewis, email addiction has less to do with curbing an obsession than it does with proper time and email management. She offers the following tips to help people deal with "email addiction:"
**Organize: Use folders provided in most free email services such as AOL to file messages appropriately. Simple drag and drop technology allows you to file your messages by category, and can help avoid repetitive communication.
**Use the away message: If you feel compelled to answer every email as it comes in, use your away message to let people know that you have stepped away from email for the day (or night), and will respond when you return.
**Follow the Rule of Three: If you have emailed back and forth with the same person on the same topic more than three times, it is time to pick up the phone and have a conversation.
For more information on email addiction, as well as more complete national and regional survey results from AOL's Email Addiction survey, visit switched.com or http://www.reginalewis.com/.
SOURCE: AOL
Survey Methodology:
The results are based on interviews conducted online with 4,025 Americans age 13 and over. The survey was conducted June 9-19, 2007.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RITA RUDNER EXTENDS HER STAY AT HARRAH'S FOR THREE MORE YEARS
The acclaimed comedian will continue as the Strip Resort's Headliner until 2010
LAS VEGAS – Rita Rudner, the accomplished actress, screenwriter, best-selling author and comedian, has announced an agreement in principle to extend her stay as headliner at Harrah's Las Vegas until January 2010.
"I love working here," said Rudner. "I love all the people at Harrah's, the theater is beautiful and the audiences have been fantastic. When they say I've been extended, does that mean I'm taller?"
This extension means Rudner will pass the one million tickets sold mark some time next year. Her Las Vegas Strip run began six years ago. Rudner's shows have been so well received at Harrah's that additional 6 p.m. shows have been added for the month of May. In addition, Rudner will introduce a $20 Locals' Appreciation ticket for the summer months of July and August. A limited number of tickets will be available to Las Vegas residents on a first-come-first-served basis.
"Rita has been an absolute home run for us from her very first performance," said Don Marrandino, president of Harrah's Las Vegas. "We are pleased that she has extended her engagement and I am certain that she will continue to delight audiences with her sophisticated sense of humor for the next several years."
Rita Rudner is also continuing down the literary path with her fifth book; a collection of essays about being in your fifties entitled "I Can't Believe I'm Filthy." The book will be published later this year. She is also working on two television projects, in one of which she and comedian Jon Lovitz will play a brother and a sister, forced to live together in middle-age.
Tickets to Rudner's shows are $54 or $90 (plus tax and fees). For show schedules and additional information please visit www.harrahs.com or call (702) 369-5222.
